All proceeds provide meals and care for homeless men, women, and children in our community.

After 10:30am, all participants will be directed to the Short Course on Winthrop Ave just after Mile 2. Both courses close at 11:30am.


If you are walking the race, please be courteous to the runners and line up towards the back.

Please be courteous to the Broad Ripple neighborhoods and residents.

Please seed yourself based on your actual run/walk pace.
If you are pushing a stroller, we ask that you begin toward the back.
Both the 4.6- and 2.75-mile courses are timed. Remember to bring your bib!

Virtual race for those who can’t be in Broad Ripple on Thanksgiving morning!

Help Wheeler Mission even if you’re not in Indy for Thanksgiving! Register for the Outta Town Dash Around, and we’ll mail you your shirt at no extra charge. Great for vacations, neighborhood runs, churches, and traveling families.

Can’t make it to the Expo this year? No problem! Now you can get your packet mailed right to your home, complete with your official Brooks long-sleeved shirt and your race bib. You can just show up in Broad Ripple on Thanksgiving morning ready to go!

To enjoy this premium service, simply add “Packet Mailing” during the registration process for each person who would like to receive it!

Bib Numbers

All pre-registered participants will receive their bib number at Packet Pick-up! Bib number will not be assigned beforehand, as in years past. You do not need ID or confirmation to pick up your packet, but having your confirmation email, with the QR code in-hand, will speed up the process during pick-up. You are also able to pick up packets for your family and friends – just please make sure they are aware that you will be picking up their packet!

In an effort to officially be one of the largest Thanksgiving Day races in the country, all runners and walkers this year will be provided a timing chip! We’re hoping for 20,000+ finishers, so all runners and walkers must wear your bib during the event! Sponsored by St. Vincent.

Race Day Info

There is NO race day packet pick-up!

If you are unable to pick up your packet the day before Thanksgiving, you can opt to have your packet mailed to you for a fee.

Start Corrals

In order to accommodate the larger number of participants, more start corrals will be in place to seed participants based on their pace. We ask that you seed yourself realistically to the pace you are able to maintain. If you plan to walk the 4.6 mile event, participate in the 2.75 mile event, or push a stroller in either event, we ask that you place yourself toward the back of the crowd. Your time does not start until you cross the blue mats at the start line.

Refreshments

There will be water stations located between the 1 & 2 mile and 2 & 3 mile points on the course. Second water station is only available on the 4.6 mile course. Sponsored by Summers Plumbing, Heating, & Cooling.

Food items and refreshments from Starbucks, Kroger, Clif Bar, and Frito Lay will be available just past the finish line.

Costumes + Scavenger Hunt

Wear a costume, get a prize! Stop by the K-LOVE Prize Tent, located in the Post-Race Party Area, to get a prize (while supplies last).

Keep an eye out for special turkey hats along the course! Find one and keep it as your prize!

Kids 12 and under can chase our turkey mascot! The event starts at 10:15 a.m. on Broad Ripple Ave. after the Finish Line. All finishers will receive a cool medal. Sponsored by MHS.

The pre-race shuttle service will run from 7:00 a.m. – 8:45 a.m. The post race shuttle service will run from 9:45 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Glendale Town Center –  6100 N Glendale Town Center, Indianapolis, IN 46220 Please park in the large surface lot on the east side of the Town Center. (located 1 mile from Start Line)

Park Tudor School – 7200 N College Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46240 (located 1.7 miles from Start Line)

Be sure to arrive early enough to give yourself time to park and get to the start line on time.

Both courses finish along Broad Ripple Avenue!

The main course distance is 4.6 miles (sponsored by GEICO). There is a short course (sponsored by Barnes & Thornburg) opportunity of 2.75 miles. Both events are timed. The course is fairly flat with one water station located around the mid-point.

Teams & Groups

Group/Corporate Program

The Drumstick Dash Group/Corporate Program is for corporations or groups that will be paying 100% or 50% of their group’s registration fee with one payment.

Here is how the program works:

  • Groups must be 15 participants or larger.
  • Payment must be made before packets are released.
  • Entry fees are non-transferable and non-refundable.

Groups paying 100%

  • The Group Captain will complete the online application form below. (Group applications will close a minimum of four weeks before the event or when group spots sell out.)
  • Once the order form is received by Drumstick Dash staff, the Group Captain will receive an invoice. 
  • When payment is received by the Drumstick Dash staff, the Group Captain will receive a code for distribution to Group participants.
  • Participants will register themselves online using the Group code provided. 
  • The Group Captain will manage their Group online and approve/deny each registrant (this ensures that you will not be charged if your code gets put out on social media). 
  • All Group participants must be registered and approved online one week prior to the event.

Advantages of paying 100%

  • No participant service fees
  • Lock in the lowest available price
  • Show your employees/group that you support a healthy lifestyle and a worthy cause

Groups paying 50%

  • The Group Captain will complete the online application form below. (Group applications will close a minimum of four weeks before the event or when Group spots sell out)
  • Upon completing the form and initial communication with Drumstick Dash staff, the Group Captain will receive a code for distribution to Group participants.
  • Participants will register themselves online using the Group code provided and pay 50% of the current rate plus service fees
  • The Group Captain will manage their Group online and approve/deny each registrant (this ensures that you will not be charged if your code gets put out on social media). 
  • All Group participants must be registered and approved online three weeks prior to the event.
  • Once the roster is complete the Group Captain will receive an invoice. The invoice must be paid before any race packets will be released. 

Largest Team Contest sponsored by IndyStar

Register as a team for the Drumstick Dash!

The top three largest teams will be recognized in the IndyStar and the largest team will have their photo in the paper! Team categories are: Corporate, Schools and Clubs, Friends and Family. Largest team also wins a great prize from IndyStar!

Pre-race FAQ

When and where does the race start?

The race starts at 9AM east of Broad Ripple High School on Broad Ripple Ave. and heads east.

Where do I take donations at the Expo?

You can drop-off donations at the Wheeler Mission table.

How do I start a Fundraiser for Wheeler Mission?

At the end of your Drumstick Dash registration, you will be given your own fundraising link. This can also be found in your confirmation email. Send the link to your family and friends, asking them to support Wheeler Mission. Anyone who raises at least $250 qualifies for a race refund down to one penny!

Race Day FAQ

I forgot to bring my bib – what do I do?

Go to the Command Center (white tent next to Einstein Bros. Bagels and get a new tag.

Where is the Start Line?

East of Broad Ripple High School on Broad Ripple Ave.

Are strollers allowed?

Yes, towards the back of the pack near Compton St., please. No strollers will be allowed in the corrals.

Are dogs or orther pets allowed?

For the safety of your pet and other participants, NO pets are allowed

What if I need to report a lost child or if a lost child is found?

Accompany child or person reporting lost child to Command Center (white tent next to Einstein Bros. Bagels). A ‘Lost Persons Form’ will be filled out, staff with radio will be contacted along with IMPD.
An ‘Incident Report Form’ will also be available at the Command Center for anything significant that Event Staff or IMPD need to know about.

Is there a place I can meet my family after the race?

Yes – there are several signs in the Food Court Party Area labeled ‘Pumpkin Pie’ and ‘Gravy’. You can arrange to meet your friends or family there!

Where are the restrooms?

Portables are outside behind Einstein’s Bagels, all around Broad Ripple High School, and near the Start Line as well as on Keystone Ave. and at the Water Station. There are no indoor restrooms.

Is there Gear Check available to store belongings?

Yes, in the big white tent west of Einstein Bros. Bagels in the Food Court Party Area.

Where do I go to pick-up my packet?

You have to pick up your packet at the Expo on the day before Thanksgiving. If you are unable to pick up your packet then, you must choose to have your packet mailed to you during the registration process.

Where is the live concert located?

In front of Broad Ripple High School on Broad Ripple Ave.

Where is the Finish Line?

For both the long and short courses, it is located near ThreeWiseMen on Broad Ripple Ave.

Is there a lost and found?

Yes. In Gear Check located in the big white tent next to Einstein Bros. Bagels in the Food Court Party Area.

If someone is in need of First Aid, where do they go?

For minor issues, send them to the First Aid Tent near the Food Court Party Area, Finish Line, or Water Station. For major issues, call 911.

I registered my child for the MHS Lil’ Gobblers Run. Where do they get their bib and what time is the run?

Their bib will be handed out before they run at 10:15AM, between the Food Court Party Area and Einstein Bros. Bagels.

Are there prizes for the run?

Not for age divisions, but there will be prizes for the top ten male & top ten female finishers and first male & female to catch our turkey mascot! All prizes can be picked up at the KLOVE Prize Tent in the Food Court Party Area.

Is there a costume contest?

There is not a costume contest, but if you go to the KLOVE Prize Tent, you may receive something!
There are also 70 turkey hats hidden along the course! Find one and keep it as your very own!

Where do I take canned goods to donate to Wheeler Mission?

Bring them to the Donation box truck parked near Gear Check in the Food Court Party Area.

Where can I recycle my water bottle?

Look for recycle boxes right next to the trash boxes in the Food Court Party Area.

Where can I purchase Drumstick Dash merchandise?

There is an official merchandise trailer located in the Food Court Party Area behind Einstein Bros.

Where can I park?

We suggest parking at one of the two shuttle bus parking lots, which are both police patrolled:
Glendale Town Center – Rural Street entrance, just south of Broad Ripple Ave.
Park Tudor School – 71st Street entrance, just west of College Ave.
After 8AM, you can park at Broad Ripple Park, if space is available.

How does the shuttle work?

Shuttle buses will run about every 15 minutes before the race between 7AM-8:45AM and 9:45AM-11:30AM after the race. These buses will drop-off and pick-up participants at two different locations:

Glendale Town Center drop-off point: Broad Ripple Park
Walk west on Broad Ripple Ave. to get to the Start Line.

Park Tudor drop-off point: Westfield Blvd. & Riviera Dr.
Walk south on the Monon Trail and then turn left (east) on Broad Ripple Ave. to get to the Start Line.

What time do roads close and reopen on Thanksgiving morning?

At 7AM on Broad Ripple Ave., between College & Keystone. 9AM from Keystone around to Kessler Blvd. As the race proceeds, more streets will close. Once the last walker crosses the Start Line, a police car will follow them and all roads will slowly but open back up. All roads should be open along course by 11AM.

Can I make a donation to Wheeler Mission on race day?

Yes! You can always give online at http://WheelerMission.org or you can go to the Wheeler Mission tent in the Food Court Party Area and someone there will be able to help you.

How can I volunteer at Wheeler Mission?

Go to the Wheeler Mission tent in the Food Court Party Area and someone there will be able to help you (tent is black with large, white Wheeler logo). Or visit WheelerVolunteer.org.

How do I know when my turkey is done?

According to the Department of Agriculture, scientific research indicates that food borne pathogens and viruses, such as Salmonella, Campylobacter and the avian influenza virus, are destroyed when poultry is cooked to an internal temperature of 165o F. The Food Safety and Inspection Service recommend the use of a food thermometer to monitor internal temperature. For reasons of personal preference, consumers may choose to cook turkey to higher temperatures.

After 10:30am, all participants will be directed to the Short Course on Winthrop Ave just after Mile 2. Both courses close at 11:30am.
